זה כחצי שנה שאני איש הקשר של אובונטו ישראל, או אולי עכשיו מותר לי להגיד, שהתפקיד שלי היה הרבה מעבר לאיש קשר, והמונח הנכון הוא LoCo Leader.

אני חושב שהצלחתי להביא לשינוי רציני בקהילה ובגישת הקהילה, למדנו לחסוך בעלויות ולקדם את הקהילה בארועים שונים, התחלנו להיפגש על בסיס חודשי, לעדכן את הקהילה בדברים האחרונים שנעשו  ולהחליט החלטות ביחד, בצורה דמוקרטית ושוויונית – כראוי לקהילה שפועלת על דעת עצמה ופועלת מטעמה.

אבל בחודשיים האחרונים התחלתי להרגיש עומס, לא עקב התפקיד (שהולך וגדל עם הזמן) אלא עקב לימודים. האמת היא, שמה שהתחיל לגרום לי לחשוב על פרישה, הוא עצם העובדה שאני מרגיש שחוק. לא מבחינת הקהילה, יש לנו קהילה מדהימה ואני שמח לראות את הרעיונות השונים וחילוקי הדעות, אלא דווקא מתוך עצמי. כשנכנסתי לתפקיד הרגשתי שיש לי הרבה מה לתרום ולתת לקהילה, הגעתי שופע רעיונות, דעות ומחשבות, ושוב, היה לי מה לתרום. אבל היום אני מרגיש שהרעיונות שלי הולכים ופוחתים והתפקיד שלי נהיה בעיקר מנהלתי, דבר שקיוויתי שלא להגיע אליו, אני לא רוצה למצוא את עצמי עומד ללא מעש חודשים פרט לשמירה על הכבוד והססטוס שלי, זה לא מכבודי.

כך הגעתי למסקנה שהגיע הזמן להכניס דם חדש למערכת, צריך מישהו עם ראש שונה משלי, מישהו שיוכל לבוא עם רעיונות ודעות ומחשבות, ליצור וליזום ובעיקר לתת לקהילה דחיפה שאני כבר לא מצליח לתת, או לא חזק מספיק בכל אופן.

העלתי את העניין לדיון בפגישה האחרונה, הסברתי את המצב וביקשתי למצוא לי יורש. מי שנבחר ברוב מוחלט הוא אביב (Serfus). אני חייב לציין שאכן בחירה נאה, לדעתי הוא יתרום רבות לקהילה ויש למה לצפות. כבר התחלתי לדבר אתו ובהחלט נראה שיש לבחור מה להציע.

אז אני רוצה לאחל לאביב את כל ההצלחה שבעולם, שיצליח יותר ממני ויביא את הקהילה הכי רחוק שאפשר

Few weeks ago our LoCo (Ubuntu-IL) started a revolution, we are now learning the way of Ubuntu, and how to use the creativity of the community for everyone's use.

as a part of that, we have started doing meeting in our chat (#ubuntu-il/Freenode), that made me very excited, who thought the community may have that kind of power!

but it seemed that the meetings were a little mess, it certainly needed some bot to help us organize the meetings. of course we tried MootBot and MootBot-UK, both are great bots (!), but both does not support Hebrew at all (seems like a bug in Eggdrop).

for that reason, Shualdon, an active Ubuntu user from our LoCo (and a good friend too), sat down days and nights, and succeed writing an whole new bot (Python) in just few days, that works just great! it has all the function we need from MootBot, has no problems with Hebrew and even makes a BBcode summary of the meetings. as it seems now, more functions will be added soon, so it may be used for support in the channel, and not only for the meetings.

The bot was named Hoborg as a gesture to the most brilliant quest game we both have ever knew: The Neverhood (recommended!!). Hoborg is actually some kind of the god of the game, it is the creature who created the Neverhood.

I just want to thank Shualdon for that great Hoborg he had created, no doubt that his work is very appreciated! thanks!

הגיעו חולצות אובונטו עם הכיתוב "Ubuntu Guru". החולצות בצבע חום, בגדלים XL, L ו־M, חמש חולצות מכל גודל.

מעוניינים בחולצה?!
אנו רוצים להציג נוכחות בארועים, לכן בחלוקת החולצות תהיה העדפה ברורה לפעילי אובונטו (כמה חודשים טובים) שמגיעים לארועים שונים. למשל מי שמתכוון להיות בדוכן שלנו, במידה ויהיה כזה, באוגוסט פינגווין.

Hello.

It's been a long time that the Israeli Ubuntu LoCo website have no real website. before about a year Dolev Ravid (Shezif), the Israeli LoCo leader had decided to redirect the domain of the LoCo site from the website to the forums, because of the obsolete information it had for a long time.
My thought was that I must rebuild the portal, and so I did.

While searching for the best CMS to use for the new portal, i found Drupal (which ubuntu.com is working on it) and the Project Ubuntu-Drupal, which tried to build a nice LoCo basic site.
From when I've joined this project, until today, it changed from side to side, and has nothing with the old version I first used when I've started building the portal.

Before few days I've finished building the last things in the site, after months I'm working on it. I worked hard to give the site a real "Ubuntuish" feeling, so we would be a good "face" of Ubuntu in our country.

This portal was redirected to our domain, and is available on the address http://ubuntu-il.com. for now it has a Planet, Last messages from the Israeli LoCo forums (in the main page), News, Chat, and many translated pages from ubuntu.com.
